Paul Jackson

English born and educated, Paul Jackson has been a professional origami artist since 1983, perhaps the first outside Japan.  He has an MA in Fine Art from the Slade School of Art, University College London (1981).  He has lived in Israel since 2000.  Below is a summary of his work.

¬Teaching
Paul regularly teaches in Shenkar College in Ramat Gan, teaching ´folding techniques´ to students of Textile Design, Fashion Design, Jewellery and Environmental Design.  He also regularly teaches in Colleges of Design across Europe.  Since 1983 he has taught in more than 60 Colleges.

Publications
Paul has written more than 35 books for adults and children on origami and pop-ups.  In recent years, he has begun to create a series of folding-based books for designers and students of Design.  The first of these books ´Folding Techniques for Designers´ (Laurence King Publishing, London)  is an international bestseller  With Miri Golan, Paul has created a series of origami books available in Hebrew.

Exhibitions
Paul has exhibited his folded paper artworks extensively across the world.  He is known for exploring the technique of folding in the context of Fine Art.  In 2008 he curated the first biennale of Israeli Paper Art, at the Eretz Israel Museum.

Consultancies
Paul has been employed as a freelance ´folding consultant´ by well-known companies such as Disney, Nike, Siemens, Tetra Pak and Stora Enso (the world´s second largest paper company).  He has also created origami models used in media campaigns for companies such as British Airways, HP, Vogue and BBC TV, and in Israel for Clal, Netvision and Tnuva.

Documentary
Paul was a featured origami artist in the multi-award winning documentary ´Between the Folds´ (Green Fuse Films, 2009).
